I asked an Obama supporter (no names) what she thought of Obama these days with all of the growing opposition. Without even thinking about it, she basically said that everyone opposed to Obama is a racist. Now, I know a lot of conservatives, I listen to talk radio, I watch the most trusted network, Fox News and I can honestly say that I’ve never once heard anyone say they are opposed to Obama because he’s black; well actually he’s half black. The other half is white, so does that make people semi-racist? The only people talking about the prejudice against Obama are the media who are accusing people of being racist without any substantiating evidence. They point to a couple of signs at Tea Party rallies. They like to cite that the Tea Parties are just a bunch of people who call Obama, Hitler and hold up those posters. In reality (a place where the network news organizations can’t seem to find) the source for those posters was Lyndon LaRouche and his organization. In 1979, LaRouche formed a Political Action Committee called the National Democratic Policy Committee (NDPC). LaRouche has run for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States seven times, beginning in 1980. Oh, you didn’t see that on ABC, CBS, NBC, or on The Daily Show? I’m not surprised.
Question; if your are black and conservative, and you oppose Obama, are you a racist? Project 21 is an organization made up of African American conservatives and “is an initiative of The National Center for Public Policy Research to promote the views of African-Americans whose entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to family and commitment to individual responsibility has not traditionally been echoed by the nation’s civil rights establishment” according to their website. They oppose Affirmative Action, Obamacare, and the tax and spend policies of this administration. Is this a racist group because they oppose Obama? Hardly.
What about African American conservatives like Dr. Thomas Sowell and Dr. Walter Williams? Two brilliant men who consistently oppose Obama’s policies and are very vocal about it. What about J.C. Watts and Jesse Lee Peterson, and Atlanta’s own Herman Cain, a wonderfully conservative businessman and talk show host who opposes Obama’s policies more than anyone I listen to. There are many other black conservatives who oppose Obama and the number is growing to the point that I would not be surprised that in the 2012 election, African Americans will overwhelmingly vote against Obama.
When someone questions Obama’s entire educational history, they are called a racist even though his records from Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard have yet to be released to the public. People heard “Hope & Change” and saw that they could elect someone who wasn’t George W. Bush and they bought it hook line and sinker. People thought he would put gas in their cars and pay their mortgages. And the white people who harbored racial guilt also lined up at the polls to vote for someone they knew practically nothing about.
When Obama plays the race card, he injects in the conversation an element that is meant to misdirect people into thinking that he is post-racial. Don’t be fooled. Have you forgotten about the incident where a policeman arrested a professor for breaking into his own home? Without hesitation Obama claimed that the policeman “acted stupidly” Obama went on to say “I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played.” He continued “But I think it’s fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry; No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, No. 3 … that there’s a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.” The incident, Obama said, shows “how race remains a factor in this society.” Now, who brought up race this time?
I assert that race is not and has never been the issue with Obama. When our debt has grown more in his first year than any other year in history, when unemployment grew at the fastest rate in decades, when taxes and spending are going up, and the government is taking over businesses, is it not a legitimate argument that the Obama policies are the wrong direction for this country to take? How are any of these things related to racism? Is the reason I did not vote for Obama is because he is (half) black? No, I didn’t vote for him because I believed that he was the wrong person for the job. Today, it’s not about black or white, it’s about green.
Let’s not forget the abyssmal State of the Union Address and Chris Matthews’ statement that he “completely forgot he was black tonight.” Who are the ones making race an issue?
